About Weldaad Authentic Interior

De Weldaad Authentic Interior was founded in 2002 in Amsterdam Mirjam Verheijke. Mirjam: 'After running a flower shop and working as a decorator for 15 years, I started to sell antiques, vintage and home and lifestyle accessories under the brandname 'De Weldaad'. I have always loved to travel and was inspired by all the beautiful handicraft items I found. In 2009 a second shop was opened in an old garage in the historical centre of Amsterdam on the Noordermarkt. At the same time the wholesale started and for several years I worked on a collection of my own. Together with colleague Rinske I started to travel to India several times a year, because we want to visit all the factories an cooperations we work with. It is important for us to work with artisans in an ethical and responsible way.'

Our wholesale company started to grow and our beautiful handmade collection contains textiles, recycled glass, brass decorations, handforged iron products and mirrors. Currently we are working on a lifestyle collection together with women empowerment company Sambhali. We support this NGO.

In 2019 Weldaad Authentic Interior moved to a large warehouse with a showroom in Aalsmeer. Also we sell a selection of our products  in TICA, a cash & carry venue in Aalsmeer.

Our name 'Weldaad' is Dutch for 'pleasant atmosphere' and 'a treat for body and soul'. We think that your home is the place of well-being and inspiration.

On the product pages of our webshops you will find a banner with icons such as ‘handmade’, ‘eco-friendly’, ‘made by women’, ‘fair trade’, ‘organic’ and ‘ancient techniques’. These icons represent the values of Weldaad Authentic Interior.

Our most important values are:

Fair trade
We work with independent companies, social projects and cooperatives. We see our suppliers as partners, so that we can work together towards mutual success. We stand for transparency and encourage open dialogue and communication. We believe that fair trade offers an opportunity to build a future. It helps companies develop and creates sustainable employment.

Eco-friendly
We work with natural and recycled materials with a focus on sustainable production methods. We see the beauty in natural and organic materials. We use the waste left over from other industries, such as cotton from discarded saris, recycled glass, metals and textiles. Recycling allows us to create new and beautiful products. We let the natural character and texture of the raw materials speak for themselves. We also use recycled packaging materials as much as possible.

Handmade
We love the individual and unique character of handmade products. The relationship between an artisan and a beautiful handmade piece creates a story, making each product an individually crafted piece (i.e. not a mass-produced item). The traditional skills used by our suppliers have been passed on from generation to generation. We cherish this age-old knowledge and hope to help preserve it.
